Handmade Tuesday; Disney scrapbook page

Handmade Tuesday is here and continue my Disneyland inspired week with here with my scrapbook page. It is a very easy to find prepackage Disney scrapbook pages ,but they can be expensive. I have bought many of these and I get frustrated because it is not very unique and costly in the end. So what I decide to do was make my own and use pieces I liked from pervious bought prepackaged earlier and with my own DIY touch.

here is what you need:

  • Disney scrapbook paper
  • Black scrapbook photo
  • Mickey Mouse outline ( i found it online google)

  • Any fun cutouts and letters
  • Embellishments
  • Little brad pins
  • Pictures
  • Glue dots and picture conners
  • Red circles

I put Disney paper as the base paper. I cut out the Mickey Mouse ears using the black paper and put it over the Disney paper. Using the glue dots to keep it in place. Then put the cut outs and Embellishments were you desire. I also took red dots and adhered the Disney ear letters on to them.  Be creative and go for it.

Julie and Ruben's Bridal Shower

So as you might know I am bridesmaid in two weddings this summer and part of the honer of being in friends wedding is throwing the Bridal shower. I recently blog about Candice’s shower seen here. This Saturday it was Julie’s (Jewels) and Ruben’s Shower. I was surprised how calm I was. It went very well and it was the first party in our Townhouse so it was extra exciting.

The theme was Cooking / Recipe shower. I had made brownies and cupcakes. We bought cookies, cheeses and hummus platter. Julie’s mother brought several appetizers. Ruben’s mother brought fruit salad together we had tons of food. Everyone happily played my ridiculous bridal games including herb guessing game , ABC Vegetables and Bridal mad Libs.  It turned out great. Most importantly Ruben and Julie were very happy. I babysit afterwards and got done at 12:30 am not the best choice I have made in most recent years. However, I am going to Disneyland all Friday so it was worth it. Two showers done and I think I earned my bridesmaid patch now  ( I really need one of those I can put it with rest of my Girl Scout patches the jacket is a little small ,but it would be awesome)!!!!

Field trip: underwood family farm

The two boys that I watch had field trip to Underwood family Farm in Moorpark. It is farm that gives tours and lets you pick their produce for about $8.00-$12.00. It  was a great trip.

We picked strawberries, had a a hay ride and visited the petting farm. The boys had great time. It is so important for children to see where there food comes from how it is grown and they enjoy it so much. I had great time and there is something marvelous about picking your own strawberries.

Family Destination wall: Part 2 scrapbook pages

As you all remember I was making a family destination wall. The first part can be seen here. The second part of this project involves making one page scrapbook pages. then putting them in one page scrapbook frames bought at Michael’s on sale of course.
What I used:

  • Photos 3-4
  • scrapbook paper
  • Ticket stubs , memorabilia ect.
  • Cute stickers
  • Photo conner
  • glue dots
One of my most helpful tips on scrapbooking is to look for craft /scrapbook store on vacation. While in Maui we found scrapbook store with the cutest scrapbook papers and cut outs. The best part is the woman that owns it is really nice and has her website making it so easy to reorder. In Catalina I found similar store and bought cut-outs there as well. It makes unique and useful thing to buy while traveling.
To finish the project I assembled the photos and fun stuff on the paper glued them down. Place it into frame and you are done. I will be posting the destination wall shortly stay tuned.

My first 5k in long time!!

So this Sunday I ran my first 5k in about five years. I know going in I was going to be hard. Since I started running eight weeks ago from nothing I am very happy. I end up walking a little up the hill, but I finished strong and was very happy being under thirty minutes.

I ran the race with my friend Candice. She has been running longer then I have so she was my motivater. It was a lot of fun. There is something so great about running race everyone is so supportive and friendly.  Fun times and now I need to sign -up up for my next race.

What I love: Photos of plant

What I love is taking pictures of plants. I love taking pictures period, but recently after I found out about the macro  setting on my camera I have been obsessed. Macro makes details  and close up shoots clear and so crisp. So where ever we go I like taking pictures of plants that we see there. Here is sampling of places I have been and photos I took.

New do Thank you Audrey

Occasional I throw caution into windy
and change my look. I have always loved Audrey Hepburn so it should come as no surprise she was my inspiration. She is obviously beautiful, but even more she has a grace about her that I envy. I happily will borrow anything from the amazing Audrey including her hair. The other inspiration for my style and haircut is Zooey Deschenal. Who I would like to say is my imaginary best friend and thinks I am hilarious. So here are some of my favorite inspirations from my two favorite girls Zooey and Audrey.

My crazy collection: Collective spoons

Today I am sharing my souvenir spoons . Not so long ago it was very fashionable to display spoons from the different places you have been. Now it is shoot glass, but I am from another time so I still collect spoons. I have some rules that I apply to the spoon collecting. One I must have gone there at one time and two the need to have be attractive to look at.I have on trips not brought back a spoon because it was fugle and frankly not worth the five dollars. They are very difficult to find  and so they make them all the more special. So happily I show you my spoons.

21/2 cups buttermilk
Hand mix until dough ball forms
Roll dough floured  cutting board to approx. 1/2 thick
Use Biscuit or cookie sheet
Place cut cough on ungreased cookie sheet
Brush tops with beaten egg yolk
Bake in 350 oven for 20-25 minutes, until lightly
browned.

What you need for the mason Jar project:

  • Mason jar
  • Square pieces of fabric
  • Cotten balls or loose cotton
  • Labels
  • Tags (I used cricut cut out cartridge Tags,Bags,Boxes)

Pour all dry ingredients in the jar. Take the lid of the canning jar and place it on top. Take the cotton and put it on top of the lid and cover it with the square piece of fabric.  Take the ring and screw it down to hold the fabric in place and creating a poof on the top of the jar. Write/print label for the front of the jar and write instructions for the tag. Affix the label on tag and tie it around the top. Cute, simple and good. Enjoy!!!

Bridal Shower: Candice's garden party

As you all know I have been gearing up for my friend Candice’s bridal shower. This weekend was the weekend of her shower. My wonderful mother in- law came down to help out with the food and setting up. Without her I am not sure how it would have all gone since this was my first experience throwing a large party. I did all planning for my wedding of course, but you hire people for the food and entrainment so the day you just hope everyone shows up. This was different because I had to be the hostess with mosts and I think it went really well.

Candice is not your average bride that likes pink and pretty bridal decor so she decide to go with garden theme. We did simple, but elegant with live plants and mason jar cups. I feel it turned out wonderful. The food was delicious fruit salad, muffins, strata (it is like quiche) and potatoes. Of course games where involved an herb themed guessing game and bridal bingo. What a great day.
